Best Mario title since Mario 64. Excellent use of Wii's controls throughout. Fun, creative and challenging levels. Absolutely fantastic. A must have for every Wii owner! Grab a copy today!
I'm not a fan of this genre, but thought SSB would different. Taking advantage of the Wii's controls, I thought it would deliver a unique experience. I was wrong. This game plays out like any other side view fighting game (think Mortal Kombat with Nintendo IP characters). Online multiplayer proved to be difficult at best, with a clunky interface. Game seemed rushed and could have easily been released on Gamecube with no improvements in graphics nor controls.
Basically, what we have here is a side scrolling action and one on one fighting game that presumes to feature musical rhythm elements to engage combos. It doesn't really seem all that critical to winning but note also that it features very light quest/rpg/strategy elements as well. All in all, it's not a bad game; the graphics are rather GBAish but the animation and control are well done. Lot's of attacks to find may also appeal to the "collect'em all" types. Can't believe that I'm the only person here to own it but I recommend it all the same if you like the fighting genre.
Even in my 50's, it's as much fun now as the original was 30 years ago. Although I don't remember it being so fast, or maybe I don't realize I'm not so fast anymore. Anywho still an addicting game hard to put down. A must buy even at $20 CAN.
A missed opportunity. Sadly this is just too easy due to the limited playfield. Game play is OK and is fun. Get this as a budget title and don’t set your expectations too high. The paddle controller is simply great but the game lacks over all.I found this underwhelming, Perhaps my expectations were too high.
I really like this game! Granted I'm not a huge RPG nut. I found I'm interested in the universe and exploration but can't bother with all the management, turn based gameplay and heavy-handness of rpgs today. This one plays very fast (almost like a action title) and has a interesting and humorous story. JRPGs don't often have a story I can relate to. Maybe hardcore rpg nuts should steer clear, but for those how want a accessible, fun adventure title, I'll give it high marks. It also helps that you can find this for $9.99 at gamestop right now (6/08) After a little digging I found that this was Best Mobile Game of 2006 and collected tons of E3 prizes and will be getting a DS sequel this holiday!
I checked out this game based on Shane mentioning it on the front page. At first it reminded me of the old Amiga game Bobble Ghost. But as I got deeper into the game it has so many cool elements and ideas and I was blown away. It is an incredibly original game that should be enjoyed by everyone. Probably one of the best games I have seen this year.
If you were ticked with Age of Empires being turn-based, then you will love this game. It shows the makers of Age of Empires that you really can have a real-time game for the DS, that doesn't suck. Anno 1701 is another one that came out from no where and it just landed the K.O. blow on AoE. Expect to spend many hours playing this game!
Although I don't excel in these types of games, I actually found I was able to prgress futher along in the game than I was with the Xbox version. Go figure. Wii mote? Actually had fun once I got use to the controls. Maybe a rent to see if your cup-o-tea.
Wow no one has commented on this awesome breakout game yet? For shame. With the add on paddle controller this game totally rocks on the DS! The add on paddle controller reminds me of the old Microvision Blockbuster game so much that it brings a tear to this old handheld gamer's eye. Even without the add on paddle controller this breakout clone is extremely polished and is well worth the money (especially at $20 US). If you love breakout games you must own this game.
I enjoyed this game's predecessor, Super Star Sega on the GBA. While this game doesn't live up to the first one. This one seems to get more repetitive and doesn't compel me to beat it.
This game dispassionately me incredibly. It is straight ported from the N64 version with a mediocre online. I would still recommend Mario Kart for DS racing needs.
Imagine a third person shooter with bullet time take downs of animals as you slaughter them. Oh, and when was the last time you met a hunter with lasers and x-ray scopes? Almost makes you wish the animals could shoot back.
The bowling, however, is a small cut above Clubhouse Games (the reigning champ) - but of course, you lose mult/online play here. This is a SUPPLEMENTAL game to other, more worthy titles. If the price is right, however, you may find it useful to carry 5 lesser games in one pack than to carry around 5 carts to play. The other annoying thing about this game is that the controls are "mixed" ... you CAN use stylus for everying. But if you like the D-Pad, you can do SOME things with the D-Pad, but not everything - meaning you're using the stylus 'spurratically' if you're a D-Pad person.
There's really nothing here that couldn't be done on a low-end PC or even a last gen console, but considering that the game can be had for about $15 at Amazon, or $20-$30 most other places, it's a decent point
Fun light gun style game, though perhaps a bit overpriced at $39.99. Considering that Ghost Squad and House of the Dead 2 can be had for $20 or $30 each, I'd only recommend Target Terror for those who own and enjoyed both of these first. For fans of the arcade version of Target Terror, this is a no-brainer--all the fun of the original plus some fun mini-game content add to the experience.
While the price tag of $49.99 is way out of line, I found MX vs. ATV Untamed to be a fun racing game with surprisingly feature-rich multiplayer with up to 12 online players. Wii wheel compatible, though it can be played simply with the Wiimote/nunchuck combo or the classic controller. If it ever hits the $29.99 price range, I'd recommend it for anyone interested in the genre or some great multiplayer gaming.
